intermittent GPS data

hey all,
So this is using a relatively new G2XPro box.

I am getting GPS signal, as the lights indicate, and I have speeds on the dash I am using, BUT when I pull the data after a run I have either no GPS data, or intermittent pieces.

Put a new antenna on the box: same result.
tested old antenna on different box: no problems.
updated G2XPro firmware form website: same results.

swapped all modules, dash, gps onto a different G2XPro box and everything works fine.

thoughts?

New problem, possibly related:

G2X red box, most recent firmware.
formatted SD card.
Wrote config to box.

will not lock in satellites. GPS light just blinks red forever.
swapped GPS antennas with another racepak box and new box locks satellites in a matter of seconds, while the box in question continues to blink red and record nothing.

thoughts?
