  • Multiple Inputs on 1 Input channel?

New to the whole Holley ECU thing, I have a Terminator X Max that’s going in my car. I haven’t had the chance to power it up yet, but as I’m in the planning stage of wiring, I know I’m limited on the number of channels that can be used for I/Os. My thought though, can one channel be used for multiple functions the same way OE manufacturers do to cut back on wiring? Being, if I add resistors with different values between a switch and the ECU, so I can have a few switches on one input circuit, so I can leave the others open for data monitoring or a dialed input? Or is this asking too much from the Terminator system? Something that’s possible with the Dominator if not on the Terminator X Max? I’ll likely add a I/O expansion module down the road, but was hoping this would also be an option. Picture of the car for attention.

    No, that's not possible.

Thanks for the quick response Danny. Do you know if it’s possible with the Dominator? Or is it simply not on option on any of the ECUs?

It's not possible with any aftermarket Holley EFI ECU.

I/O expansion module when needed it is then, ha ha.

What are you trying to do?

I use the AEM 30-2056 that has 12 positions and have it setup on different vehicles to do different things. On my engine run stand, I use it to adjust the idle on the fly.

I didn’t have anything specific planned at the moment, but I know 1 input will be used for a boost dial, 1 output will be used going to a 4 port Mac valve, and eventually I’d like to toss in a transbrake and utilize the scramble feature. I figured since transbrake and scramble aren’t used at the same time, it’d be cool to share that input. The biggest thing is I’m trying to minimize wiring as much as possible. I’m also replacing the entire harness and fuse box, so this is why I’m trying to plan ahead now so I don’t have to cut back open a brand new harness to re-route stuff. With what I now know, eventually I’ll probably end up with a Dominator ECU in the car.

If you get the Dominator, you'll have more available inputs than you'll ever need. Andrew

OneBad76: I use the transbrake button only for transbrake. Bump button for Bump when Transbrake is engaged. And scramble when transbrake is disengaged. Simple things like that save a couple wires and gives you options.

Go ahead and go Dominator. You won't regret it one bit. It also opens up much more capabilities over the Terminator X.

Yeah, I wish I had gone with the Dominator from the start, it started out as a “budget” build, and that’s quickly spiraled down the money pit hole, ha ha. At this point, I just want to get it running with everything I have so I can drive it this summer. So for now, I’ll wire everything over to where the ECU is going and I’ll just leave enough wire hanging out to get to my switches until I can upgrade from the Terminator X Max.

FWIW, you might be able to just sell the ECU, they're hard to get without the harnesses, and the Dominator will plug into the same wiring.
