I'm using a Lokar sport shifter, just about to start the wiring for the shifter. It can trigger in either ground mode or +12V voltage trigger, which are you guys using? I was planning on using the ground to trigger mode.

Yep, that was my first thought. Do they have to ground to an ECU signal ground? I was going to bring a wire from one of the signal grounds back to my shifter, use a small bus bar for the ground side of the switches, and then a dedicated wire from each signal position the I/O connector.

4L70E transmission not manually shifting.

For "manual/paddle/sport shifting", there are three signals, Manual Enable/Upshift/Downshift. These are electrically triggered, and there are a handful of configuration points in the ECU to make it all work.
My Lokar shifter has a "kick to the right" shifter so it locks in place in drive, enables manual shifting, then I shift up & down in the sport mode. Very similar to the factory levers that tip to right or left and their is just a "-" and "+" position that kicks you up or down a gear.
Mine (4L65E) also stays in the selected gear if I move the shifter normally (D,3,2,1) and have the shift RPM and speed limits set correctly.
Use case, I have my L33 in a Jeep YJ/Wrangler, I wanted to be able to manually stay in specific gears while four wheeling and be able to be lazy when driving on the highway.Last edited by pdxmotorhead; 05-28-2022, 10:40 PM.

So! Turns out that my +2009 4L70E was an earlier model. Thanks to Russell (Holley Tech) we changed Transmission Type to 4L60E and removed the "Advanced" Individual Config under Toolbox (sorry, not sure what that is). Now shifts as it should. I can manually upshift or downshift through all gears when using the ratchet shifter. Range Pos on TSLCD screen reads correctly. My transmission connector is a 15 PIN with no F-PIN. Hope this helps someone.

Fab67: I don't understand why you had to remove the Advanced ICF. That should have zero impact on the shifting, unless there was some weird Advanced ICF table that was programmed. AndrewInstagram: @projectgattago
