  • Terminator vs. Sniper

What are the differences between the Terminator and the upcoming Sniper system, other than price?

  • #2
The Sniper EFI is an 800 CFM throttle body (vs. 950 CFM Terminator), and has the dual square-bore & spread-bore mounting pattern. The Sniper's much smaller ECU (with integrated ignition coil driver) is encased in the side of the throttle body. The Sniper EFI can be laptop tuned with the Holley 558-443 CAN/USB Dongle (purchased separately). The Terminator EFI HP ECU (much more capable) can be laptop tuned with the Holley 558-409 USB Data Cable (purchased separately). Both EFI systems can record regular datalogs, however, the Sniper EFI isn't capable of recording System Logs (crank & cam signals). Both EFI systems include the 3.5" LCD Touchscreen unit. The Sniper's non-adjustable 58-60 psi fuel pressure regulator (LINK) is also integrated into the throttle body. The Sniper throttle body doesn't have the Ford C6 transmission kickdown lever (LINK/LINK/LINK). Both throttle bodies have a 1:1 secondary throttle linkage. The Terminator EFI has prewired fuel & oil pressure transducer inputs/connectors (Sniper EFI doesn't). The Holley Dual Sync & HyperSpark Distributors (LINK) are "plug & play" with either EFI system; although the Sniper EFI requires the Holley 558-493 Distributor Adapter Harness, and the HyperSpark requires the Holley 558-323 Distributor Adapter Harness. Lastly, the Sniper EFI system is less expensive than the Terminator EFI.
May God's grace bless you in the Lord Jesus Christ.

I'm seriously considering the Holley Sniper vs. the MSD Atomic. The only reason I'm looking at the Atomic, is due to having more options than the Terminator.

The Terminator EFI uses an HP ECU (LINK), so it has much more capability than the MSD Atomic EFI or Holley Sniper EFI.

OK. It might be more of a question of 800 CFM Sniper feeding a 500+ cubic inch engine, vs the 950 CFM of the Terminator.

If I had to use TBI, it would no doubt be the Terminator EFI. It uses an HP ECU (much more capability), and can be further upgraded to a Dominator ECU (LINK).

Aside from budget of course. Budget is the reason I'm looking at the Sniper as well.
