  • Dominator on '94 & '95 Ford 302 with Black TFI module?

    The Gray TFI module was used on '93 and earlier Fords. It has an internal dwell controller and is referred to as the "Push Start" module. It does not require a dwell signal from the EEC. It fires the plug on the rising edge of the SPOUT signal, ignoring the falling edge, as dwell is computed inside the TFI module.

    '94 & '95 used a Black TFI module, which has NO internal dwell control, and is referred to as the CCD module, for Computer Controlled Dwell. I need to know if the Holley controls dwell for Ford with distributor ignition, and if I can set the Dwell Time?
    Manufacturing individual cylinder knock controllers since 1991.

    There's only one EFI software selection for that application - "Ford TFI (8 Cylinder) SEFI" in Ignition Parameters, and the Dwell Time is not user adjustable like many others are.

      That implies the older Gray TFI module must be used. Otherwise, with the Black module, Dwell would be a constant 50% duty cycle.

      Danny, can you confirm the SPOUT signal for SEFI is fixed at 50%, or did they program a reasonable dwell value?

        There are background Dwell Time tables, but I don't know what they are. Contact Holley Tech Service (LINK).
        EDIT: The background ignition Dwell Time tables are "Base Ignition Dwell" & "Vol Comp Ignition Dwell" (as viewed in the EFI software Data Monitor & Datalogger). Long ago I was told by a Holley EFI Engineer, there's also a battery voltage compensation Dwell Time table.
