  • 572 BBC, Dominator, no spark.

I've been running a 572 BBC with F1R ProCharger for years now. Holley EFI Dominator, sequential fuel injection. All has worked well. I have roughly 10,000 miles on the setup, and running great. Couple months ago, it wouldn’t start. Battery voltage was good. Fuel pressure was good. Tried 15 times or so, but it would just crank. Got the laptop out, plugged it in, and boom fired up. Apparently, just a coincidence. I literally changed nothing.

Drove it for a week or so, then parked it. No issues. Came out a couple weeks later, and it wouldn’t start again. Same symptoms. Battery is always on a tender, fuel pressure good, no spark.

I replaced the crank sensor just because I had one laying around. No go. Also had an extra crank/cam wiring harness, so I threw that in. No change. I pulled a sparkplug wire, connected a spark tester, and confirmed the coils are not firing. I also tried removing the Cam sensor in the EFI software to just run off the Crank Trigger. Did not help.

It seems that it’s seeing the crank & cam, but I’ve honestly never looked at System Logs, so I'm not sure where to go. Appreciate any time someone has to review these System Logs.

If this was mine, I'd do a System Log and see if you're getting consistent crank & cam signals. Andrew

Andrew: I recorded two System Logs and put links in my original post with Dropbox links. Screenshot below of one of the datalogs. Going off of the screenshot in Danny's post, they seem similar.

That looks like a System Log of the engine running. I'd be interested to see a System Log while it's cranking, and not starting. Andrew

These are System Logs of it cranking and not starting. It won't start, and hasn't for weeks. I downloaded these last weekend. I see what you're saying though with the RPM. Here's the latest one I have.

I'd turn off the cam sensor, and run it in batch fire for testing purposes. I bet it fires right up. Andrew

I had the same thought, but he said he tried that in post # 1.

I missed that. As you know, the GCF doesn't change on its own. I'm thinking there's a wire that's not happy somewhere. Andrew

                    Flash ECU firmware might help.

Thank you both for your input. The comment about the wiring got me thinking, and I pulled out the wiring diagram of the coil system. 20A Coil harness fuse was blown. Not sure how, but I replaced it and the car fired up. Been about seven years since I wired it, so I forgot about that. Thanks again.
